Zenobia Gray, a retired Assistant Deputy Warden of New York City's Department of Corrections, has been working
on behalf of New York City's youth for 15 years. She became an advocate for youth after seeing the horrible
misery of young people faced in the prison industry. She decided to dedicate herself to showing young people
a positive approach to confronting life's challenges and exposing them to healthier ways of reaching their
potential and their possibilities.
To this end, Ms. Gray served for 14 years as a mentor for The Riverside Church Rites of Passage Program.
She continues to serve at Riverside as a church schoolteacher.
After retiring from the Department of Corrections, Ms. Gray worked with children with disabilities
at The Gramercy School in Manhattan. Ms. Gray lives in New Jersey with her life partner of 23 years.
Her main focus is to make the world a better place for the community of children that includes her grandchildren.
